The Mourne Olympian Triathlon takes place at Castlewellan
Forest Park in County Down, Northern Ireland. castlewellan
is approximately 45 minutes drive from Belfast, approximately
1hour 45 minutes drive from Dublin. The Forest Park is
situated in the centre of Castlewellan and is clearly
signposted from the main street.

Travelling from
BELFAST
- Leave Belfast, following the signs to Ballynahinch and
Newcastle.
- In Ballynahinch, follow signs for Newcastle
A24.
- Continue on A24 through Seaforde.
- One mile beyond Seaforde,
you come to a roundabout junction with the A25. Take
the second exit from the roundabout.
- Drive for 0.2 miles
until you reach Clough, turn right, signposted Castlewellan.
- Drive for 5 miles until you reach Castlewellan. The
entrance to the Forest Park is on the right hand side near
the middle of the town. It is clearly signposted.
- Approximate
journey time: 45 minutes.

Travelling from DUBLIN
- The main M1/N1 to Newry.
- When you reach the Cloughogue
Roundabout (Junction of A2 and B113), take the third
exit A2, signposted Newry.
- Once in Newry, follow signs
Belfast (A1) along A2.
- You will come to the junction
with the A25. Turn right A25, signposted Rathfriland,
Hilltown.
- After 1.2 miles, you come to the junction with
the B8. At roundabout take 1st exit, signposted Rathfriland.
- After 6.1 miles, bear left.
- After 2 miles turn right
into Rathfriland.
- At crossroads, go forwards, then turn
right, sign posted Castlewellan.
- After about 6 miles,
in Kilcoo, bear left.
- You will reach Castlewellan after
a further 4 miles.
- Drive straight into the centre of
the town and you will see a sign to the Forest Park on
the left.
- Total journey time from Drumcondra Road,
Dublin : approx 1hr 45 mins.
