There will be stalls for Wheels-n-Motion & Climate. Bike mechanic service will be provided by the guys and also Powerbar will be at this stall to offer sampling of products. The climate guys will custom-make Air-cushions for those of you who have delicate feet ( see details below ) . Discounts available for all

Doorsteps have informed me they will provide a Jiffy Van to sell other consumeables for all your Health conscious , my body is a temple , friends & family members to purchase at the event. Sausage Rolls, Scones,Chocolate Biscuits, Crisps etc...We have been given special permission for this to occur.

Re/max hot-air Balloon is in the park on race day. It will be at the Finish area but if conditions are right it will take flight over the swm start line.

The organiser's wish all Ccompetitor's, spectator's, marshal's and all sponsor's a fun packed exciting day to remember.

It is incumbant on you the competitor to read the detailed Race Briefing - link at top of page. The briefing before start will only be a quick refresher briefing to advise of hazards.

Just 3 days until race day...preparations are now finalising. Your race goody bags will have all essential items already packed into them to help speed up registration .Timing chip , Race Number's , Swim Hat and some extra's . A Food voucher is attached to your race number also.This must be presented to 'Doorsteps ' staff member in order for you to claim your food post race. No voucher , you will have to buy it.. Marie Curie Running Vests can also be picked up at Registration. All Goody Bags have your name & race no on it , please check it contains all above.

21/07/08 Sorry but no more transfer requests being allowed. With less than 2 weeks to event date and after receiving many requests for transfer, today will be last day for this to happen. Final preparations need our attention. Apologies for this.

We have 414 individual entries & 13 relay teams. The race committee will now focus on finalising details to help make this a memorable event for all participants. For all you first timers at Mourne , thanks for entering & for all of you who have previously competed at this event thanks again for you attendance.

15/07/08 Caterers for this years event is the famous ' Doorsteps ' gourmet sandwich chain. Believe me when I say that these guys provide quality nosh. If Carlsberg did sandwiches then they'd probably do ' Doorsteps ' sandwiches. No other compares .....

15/07/08 Prize Fund. This is a race within a race if you know what I mean. This event also hosts the Ulster Standard Distance Championships.

Age-group 1st will also receive £50 cycle vouchers from Wheels-in-Motion. The guys will hang around until after presentation in case winners want to use vouchers on the day.Also if not Olympian Triathlon Club have agreed to pay for P&P for winners from ROI.

Relays 1st & 2nd only will receive Medals & £100 / £50 cycle vouchers respectively from Wheels-in-Motion.

After long deliberations by the organisers of the above event, a decision to cancel due to lack of interest has been made. This duathlon normally takes place on the morning of the Main Triathlon event. It was hoped that this event now in its 3rd year would go from strength to strength and become very popular but it has only attracted 7 competitors this year. Apologies to those who have entered. Full refunds will be sent out.

A practice swim is organised for Sat 26th July in Castlewellan Forest Park start time 1:00pm. First time participants can get the chance to experience the venue and the pristine lake conditions usually 17 degrees temp. This is an ideal opportunity to swim the course under controlled conditions.

Those interested MUST register for the Practice Swim event by emailing Heather Bamford , email address hbamford669@hotmail.com . Olympian Triathlon club members will provide Kayakers & swimmers as Water safety crew for participants.

We will be supporting 'The Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity' in its 60th aniversity year. Running Vests with their widely recognised logo will be part of the competitor's 'Goody ' pack.

Re/Mex estate agency has once again literally jumped on board this year . The huge Re/Mex Hot-air Balloon will be in Castlewellan Forest Park on Race day to provide a great visual for all to see.

Wheels-in-motion will have a stall at the event again this year. They will provide samples of Powerbar energy drinks/nutrician bars for tasting. Their ever popular or should I say necessary Mechanic service will be provided. They even lent a competitor a new pair of cycle shoes when he forgot to bring his own.

Glanbia Provon Revive have teamed up with Mourne Triathlon 2008 this year. They will be providing samples of Recovery drinks & a shaker to all competitors. See link provonrevive_ie
